Girl, I've been having the SAME problem. I used Bravejournal's spam filter and it totally worked. I mean, you still get the annoying ass e-mails, but they don't get posted to your page. I also BAN the IP's on Bravejournal too! I even had Karl trace their IPs to where they are located! He's been trying to find out where they are located.

Damn girl!!! I hate to be on the wrong side of your computer...LOL. Well thanks for the advice. I did ban the IP addresses. They were all from the same one, 80.252.134.72 and 212.192.251.111, and 212.59.105.66. So thanks for the bit of advice. What's makes matters worse is that some of them act like there coming from other bravejournal memebers but I know that's not the case.

Bravenet's blocking system sucks. But, the anti-spam toggle they have in options seems to help some. That plus banning IPs as you getthem is about the best suggestion I have. I know the one posting on my blog was a russian site... gotta love those bots!

Perhaps you may be aware that there are malicious software/bad-bots similar to Search Engines that pick up URLs of websites or blogs of their "programmed" liking and visiting the servers and living comments as real human beings visit the sites. There are software and programs to stop them too. For example the 4-figure code (captchas) below this comment box is one to stop spamming robots. But there are robots that overcome these security steps too. So, this can be one reason why you have such comments. The other reason is that persons who want to pomote their sites actually visit your blog and write irrelevant ads + their URLs/links. This is called COMMENT SPAM which should not be allowed as per guidelines of Google. Google's instructions are in my blog. Check it up.
However, spamming by robots can be stopped by some ready made software that you can use. I do not remember the source URL now. I will check up and provide you.
